Several Tablet PCs were taken to Valdosta Middle School (VMS) and students in an honor mathematics program used the electronic-ink/touch-sensitive-screen options of the Tablet PCs to learn about fundamental techniques in engineering graphics, mathematics, and computations. Also, a Tablet PC and a portable in-focus projector (from the HP Technology for Teaching Grant) were used in a presentation on opportunities in engineering and significance of mathematics/physics in engineering. The presentation and the Tablet PC workshop were designed to motivate/encourage students in learning fundamentals of math and sciences, and all students showed excitements and enthusiasm in using Tablet PCs to learn math and sciences.
