One Year Ago – All classes in our engineering graphics
for design course were taught inside and students/faculty
were confined to the traditional classroom/laboratory with
desk-top computers and traditional note-taking/sketching on paper.
Today - In engineering graphics for design course teams of
students can work on collaborative field projects to perform
measurements, sketching, CAD drawing and design/modifications
in field using their Tablet PCs. Because of opportunity for
interaction and active participation of students in real-world
experiments, they have shown more interest in learning the fundamentals
of problem-solving techniques.
One Year From Now – We expect to obtain positive results (higher grades,
rate of retention, and course evaluation) from our statistical comparison
of teaching/learning methods with or without Tablet PCs and will employ the
HP mobile technology in more engineering and physics courses.
