Leading Our
Country
Social
Studies
Standard- identifies the principal as the leader of the school and the
president as the leader of our country.
Third Grade

Students
will learn what a president is, what he does, where he lives, and other
basic facts. Students will then take an online tour of the White House
to see where the president lives. As a culminating activity, students
will create a power point about the President of the
United States. Explain that a leader is someone who directs other
people or guides them in the on-goings of life. Give some examples of
leaders such as parents are leaders of families, teachers are leaders
of classrooms, pastors and priests are leaders of churches, and the
president is the leader of our country. Ask the students to think about
the President of the United States and tell them everything they know
about him including his name, what his duties are, and other important
facts. Record this information on the board.
