in Time! |
| The local news
station needs our help! The manager of the news station
needs someone to go back in time to the 1600's to report about the
First Thanksgiving! He is running low on reporters and he needs SOMEONE
to do the job! He's on a tight schedule and he needs you to tell
our
town about the Pilgrims and the Indians. We have to
get in
our time machine and we need go back in time. Quickly! Get in
before it is too late! Who do you
see? What are they doing? When you are finished, be sure to bring
all of your reports back to the manager of the new station so he can
put it on the news! |
| Lesson 1 Directions 1. You will describe the purpose of Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims and the Indians celebrated Thanksgiving to give thanks for their blessings. 2. Since turkeys play such a big role in the First Thanksgiving, construct a turkey using cutouts of construction paper I give you. 3.You will create the body, and attach feathers to the back using glue. 4.On each feather, write one thing you are thankful for. Ex. I am thankful for my mother. Click on this link to find out more about turkeys. 5. You will also be given a cutout of Pilgrims and Indians. Your job as a reporter is to report information about the people of Thanksgiving. On each cutout, there will be lines for you to report information about what the Pilgrims and the Indians were like as well as what they did. 6. Be sure to include why the First Thanksgiving occured! | Lesson 2 Directions 1. I will give you each a sheet of construction paper. 2. As reporters, you have to tell me what you saw at the First Thanksgiving. You are going to draw a picture that shows an event that happened. You can draw the Pilgrims meeting with the Indians. You can draw the Pilgrims and Indians celebrating the First Thanksgiving and giving thanks over the feast. 3. After you draw your picture, write a sentence that tells what the picture is showing.
