Cheesy Pete's Pizza Place Needs Your Help!
 
Cheesy Pete is a very busy slice of pizza! It seems like everyone in town is wanting pizza from Cheesy Pete, and the customers want it now! Cheesy Pete really needs your help to fill all of the customer's orders. Please help Cheesy Pete out by following the "orders" and making the pizza slices exactly how the customer's want them. The slices of pizza will have patterns on them made from toppings.
Lesson 1 Activity: Student's will produce a given pattern on a slice of pizza. The student will demonstrate understanding and recognition of the following patterns; AB, ABBA, ABAB, ABC.

The following is what you need to do to help Cheesy Pete out. If you need a reminder about patterns, please click here to review.

1.) You will have a sheet of paper with four empty slices of pizza on it, each slice is labeled with the customers order (which is a particular pattern.) Be sure to make your slice of pizza that uses the given pattern.
2.) There will be cut-out patterns of; pepperonis, mushrooms, and black olives.
3.) Next, you will be "make" the particular pizza pattern, and place the "toppings" on the pizza slice to make your pattern designs. 4.) You will adhere the pizza toppings on the pizza by using a glue stick to make the toppings stick!

At the end of the activity, the student will provide evidence of understanding of four patterns.
Lesson 2 Activity: Student's will draw their favorite slice of pizza. You will include a pattern on your pizza slice, and identify the pattern you have drawn.

1.) On a sheet of white paper, you will draw a slice of pizza.
2.) Next, draw your favorite toppings on the slice, but be sure to make a pattern.
3.) Label your pattern under your slice of pizza.


MKG3 Students will identify, create, extend, and transfer patterns from one representation
                             to another using actions, objects, and geometric shapes.

                                     b. Extend a given pattern, and recognize similarities (such as color, shape, texture, or number) in different patterns.

PLO: 
Students will recognize a pattern, and extend the given pattern.
