Hello, my name is Alena Milton. I am currently a junior attending Valdosta State University. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education with hopes of becoming a 3rd grade teacher. I graduated from Thomas County Central High School in 2004, with plans to attend Albany State University. Althouh I did attend for a while, destiny would take me on a whole new journey, which would ultimately lead me to Valdosta State. The atmosphere of my high school was for the most part calm and collect. At times things got a little hectic, but thats normal when dealing with high school students. I participated in the National Honors Society while in high school. The biggest part of this club was the volunteer work that we had to do in order to get hours. I pray that the rest of my college experience is a good one, and that everything will turn out the way it is supposed to turn out.
My childhood was that of a typical African American female growing up in south Georgia. I used to love playing with my Barbie dolls. I would spend endless hours dressing them up and making them act out different things. Some of the greatest experiences or times that I can recall would be those spent at church. I have attended church for as long as I can remember. I have been fortunate to attend some very spirit-filled churches, but I will have to say that Disciples of Jesus Ministries, has been my favorite. I feel at peace when I am at church. I know a lot of people have had bad experiences when dealing with religion, but I try not to get to caught up in the "politics" of it. I know the reason I am there, and its not to please anyone but God.
My idea of a good time would be being curled up in front of the tv. I am not the type who likes to go out and party. Big scenes are not my thing. I do like to go to the movies with that special someone or my friends. I used to be a big reader, but that has not been the case lately. I like to shop, but most of the time when I have the money, there is nothing there. One of my favorite places to shop would be Wal-Mart, because you can find everything you need there. I am not very adventurous, I try to stay as safe as possible. I like to be surrounded by people who have my best interest at heart. I don't have time for negative energy, because that's just a waste of my time.
