I am a junior here at Valdosta State University. I am persuing my degree in Early Childhood Education and hope to teach in the
near future. I want to later return to VSU and take the lacking art classes I need to eventually teach high school art. I am a single mother of two children that mean everything to me, Olivia 6, and Ty 10 months. I am new to the Valdosta area, having just moved here from Griffin Georgia, and transferred from Mercer University. I am originally from Adel, but have not lived there since childhood. I enjoy drawing and painting in my spare time and have been comissioned for small jobs such as portraits and murals for several years, but now it is difficult to pursue that hobby and I have to focus more on school.

When I was deciding what I wanted to do with my life, I liked the work schedule of teachers. Schedule is important to me because I want to be at home when my children are in years to come. I had always enjoyed being around children but had never considered teaching. I want to eventually become an art teacher and possibly put the same excitement of art in someone else, just like my art teacher did for me almost 10 years ago. Honestly, being an art teacher wouldn't feel like work at alll because it is what I love to do; be around children and be able to be creative at the same time.

In high school, I spent over half of my day, minus the required English  and French classes, in the art room. I just loved being around the materials. I felt that is was where I belonged. My art teacher, Mr. Bartlett, always encouraged me to expand my talents. He traveled with my art class to art shows around Georgia, including one here at VSU. He wasn't afraid to correct me if he saw something I should change, but always mader sure that he let me know when my art was perfect. He was never critical. I remember thinking in high school that he must have the greatest job in the world, and I still think that.

I LOVE DISNEY MOVIES.
I have collected them for years and have finally worked my collection up to about 45 videos and DVDs.  Some of my favorites include Robin Hood, 101 Dalmations and Jungle Book. I am also a fan of the newer ones like A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo!

I am also fairly new to the Valdosta area. When I moved here I didn't know where anything was and got tired of asking for directions. I am providing a few useful links to get other new dwellers started!!! Good Luck!!!
