The students were asked to look around the classroom and identify
various objects in the shape of circles, squares, triangles, and
rectangles. After correctly identifying several objects, the students
were asked to group pictures of twelve different everyday objects by
shape. The students were to place the circles together, the squares
together, the triangles together, and the rectangles together. The
students were asked to glue the groups of objects onto a piece of
paper. The students are in Pre-Kindergarten. 2. Student 1 was able to readily identify examples of circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles found in everyday objects. Student 1 was able to group the circles, squares, triangles, and rectangle shaped objects into their respective groups with no assistance from the teacher. The student glued the shapes to the paper without teacher assistance. The teacher then labeled the assessment with the shapes' names according to the direction of the student. The student correctly identified all of the shapes. The student moved ahead very quickly. Student 1 was an early finisher. The student was asked to look around the classroom and draw an example of each of the shapes. This activity was also completed successfully without teacher guidance. |

Student 2 had no problem grouping the circles together and the triangles together. There was some difficulty between the squares and the rectangles for this student. When reminded that a square's sides are all the same, the student was able to then place the remaining shapes into the correct groups. The student glued the shapes to the paper without teacher assistance. The teacher then labeled the assessment with the shapes' names according to the direction of the student. The student correctly identified all of the shapes. |
