My name is Alicia Powell.  I was born and raised in Warner Robins, Georgia.  Throughout my life, I have enjoyed spending time with family, playing sports (especially softball), and taking trips to the beach.  My family is extremely important in my life.  I charish the bond we all have.  My dad, mom, sisiter, and brother will always hold a special place in my heart.  Softball has been an important part of my life since I was six year old.  I played every spring and continued playing through middle and high school.  My faviorite positions include second base and shortstop.  The beach has always been my favorite place to escape to.  The relaxing sound of the ocean's waves and the soft white sand comfort me. 
    Why I want to teach
I want to teach because I want to share my passion and love of learning. I also want to be a friend and a positive role model for children. I want to teach children and spark interest in them. I love watching a child's eyes light up when they understand a concept or answer a question correctly.  I want them to be sucessful and enjoy being in my classroom.
   Who inspired me to be a teacher
My main inspiration was obtained through my mom. She has scrificed a lot to get where she is currently.  My mom was a secretary at the middle shcool I attended.  During this time, she began attending classes at night to acquire her teaching degree.  She also managed to keep the house under control.  I love sitting in her classroom and watching her take control.  Her students trust and respect her.
