Valdosta State

 University

Greetings everyone!  My name is Adam Webster and I am in my second semester here at VSU.  I am from Roswell, Georgia, born and raised, and I graduated class of 2007 from Riverside Military Academy.  I had attended Centennial High School freshmen year, but decided to go to Riverside due to the great opportunities for me as well as a better football team.  My junior year, our football team won the state championship, and that was one of the most memorable times of my life so far.  I have one sibling named Rachel, who is twenty one and attends University of Georgia.  She will be graduating in May, and I am very proud of her.  I decided to attend Valdosta State due to the fact that I was accepted to the honors program, and I liked the idea of smaller, more concentrated classes, and it has benefited me greatly in my transition from high school to college.  I have taken and are taking such classes as Algebra, Chemistry, English, and History, along with some perspectives classes thrown into the mix which makes it that much more interesting.     I am a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity, and I represented us in the 2007 Big Man On Campus competition.  Along with having fun, we also do a lot of volunteer work and fundraisers, as well as organize softball or other types of tournaments for charities.

The Honors Program at VSU

The designation Honors Program does not mean that it is harder.  It just means that the classes are more interactive and prepared with enriched course structure as well as hands on activities that are designed for academically motivated and prepared minds.  Honors classes are much smaller than normal classes, with only about 16 students per class as opposed to classes with numbers in the hundreds elsewhere, which means you can build a better student-teacher relationship.  You also get priority registration, which means you get to choose your classes before everyone else.  This means when you register that no class will be closed out, and you have your choice of which teacher to take.  You can also go to the Honors house at any time and study, hang out, or whatever other desires you may have.  All in all, the Honors Program will help you in every aspect of college life.
