My name is Amber Chmelecki and I am from Marietta, Georgia. I currently attend Valdosta State University and I am in the Early Childhood Education program. I am so excited to be working with kids this semester! I hope to fulfill my dreams of being a teacher by Spring 2011. I have an eight-year-old brother who has shown me the joys of children and helped me realize my life calling: to be a teacher. Family plays a very big part in my life. The pictures below are of me with my grandmother, family, and brother respectively. I love them all very deeply and they mean the world to me.

  
 

One of my defining characteristics is my love for animals. I have eleven animals at the moment: two cats, two snakes, three hermit crabs, two rats, and two bettas. They are a lot to care for, but they are a part of my family and I love them very much.  The first two pictures below are of me with some of my friends. The last two are me and my boyfriend, David, and my two cats, Bugsy and Squeaky.

   

    

I tend to frequent the Animal Planet website a lot. I also have a curiosity of how things work, so the HowStuffWorks website is very interesting to me. Two very helpful websites for teachers I believe are Georgia Standards and Bright from the Start. They have all of the standards for Pre-K and elementary lesson plans and plenty of activity ideas and resources to go along with them.
