Unsung Heroine Award 2007

Roberta George received the Women's and Gender Studies "Unsung Heroine" Award on March 30, 2007. The award was given to Roberta for her demonstrated extraordinary dedication to issues that affect women in the Valdosta area. Roberta was presented a commemorative plaque and flowers at the Women's History Month at the City Market in Valdsota.

 

The Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Women's Studies Award

The Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Women's Studies Award is presented each year to a student in Women's Studies who achieves academic excellence and demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to feminist principles through scholarly work and feminist activism. The recipient receives certificate and a cash prize. This year the award was presented to TWO very deserving women:

Jessica Darsey: Sociology, Women's Studies minor

Jennifer Melissa Keene: Religious Studies, Women's Studies minor
