WEB Editorial Board Purpose
Editorial Responsibility
The University (Web Editorial Board) assumes editorial responsibility for the official University Web site (indicated
by “www.valdosta.edu” as part of the URL), which is defined as the Web pages of VSU colleges, divisions,
departments, programs, administrative offices, and other units. Editorial responsibility defined as monitoring Web site content to ensure consistency, appropriateness, etc... Writers and publishers in each unit are responsible for the management of content, meaning the updating, changing, writing and provision of content for its respective sites.
The official University Web site is primarily a communication and marketing tool supporting University functions. Furthermore, official University Web sites are electronic publications, and like other forms of University publications and/or advertising, must adhere to the Visual Identity Program Guide. In adhering to the Visual Identity Program Guide, the text, images, logos, and information contained on the Valdosta State University Web site are copyrighted as a collective work, and are intellectual property of Valdosta State University, unless generally or specifically excepted.
Web Editorial Board Charges:
- Develop the policies for Web page construction using the new format and standards;
- Monitor Web pages to ensure consistency, compliance with standards, freedom from errors and adherence to the university's mission;
- Serve as the approving body for requessted deviations from the standards;
- Determine ownership for Core Constituency pages (i.e. "Current Students");
- Create a methodology for monitoring the Web pages on a consistent basis;
- Meet at least once a semester to review policies, requests and other Web site issues.
