Compliance Guidelines

Web Editorial Board's Role
The Web Editorial Board will monitor Web pages to ensure they comply with proper procedures and contain accurate information. Valdosta State reserves the right to remove any Web page which contains out-of-date or erroneous content and/or does not comply with policies or guidelines. First, the responsible unit will be notified by email and phone of the problem and provided sufficient time to take corrective action. Next, the Web page may be corrected without approval of the unit or removed from the Web server.

Template Sites
All colleges, divisions, departments, programs, administrative offices, and other units are required to adhere to the University-provided template.

Non-template Sites

  • Personal/Curricular — Faculty, staff, and student Web pages and other on-line materials.
  • Registered student organizations — The information presented by student organizations reflects their own thoughts, interests, and activities; they do not implicitly or explicitly represent official positions and policies of the University.
  • Organizations — Organizations not formally a part of the University.
  • Information provided as part of a grant or contract — Ownership may be retained by the grantor of the contract or grant. Example: Archives Folklife Web site.

All of the above Web sites must adhere to the current policies of Valdosta State University, the policies of the
Board of Regents for the University System of Georgia, and with all local, state, and federal laws. They must also
carry navigational links to the University’s home page, the author’s name, contact information (either an e-mail
address, a telephone number, or both) and the most recent date of the site’s modification.

Templates for Faculty and Staff

  • If faculty and staff members choose to use the University templates for their personal Web pages, they must
adhere to the guidelines for official University pages and may not alter the templates. A disclaimer statement
must appear on the site to clarify that the site is an independent site/page and not an approved University site/
    page.
  • VSU Personal Web Disclaimer
Deviation from Standard
Request forms for deviations from the standard Web site design will be located on the Web Services Web site. If the Webmaster can not resolve the matter by recommending an alternative solution, then the request will be reviewed and voted on by the Board.
