Summer 2011 Detachment 172 Alumni Chapter The hundreds of cadets who have graduated from Valdosta State University’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 172 are scattered throughout the world, serving at military installations or engaged in the civilian workforce. In early 2011, retired Col. Gene Carter, ’87, rallied the troops and took leadership as president of the Detach- ment 172 Alumni Chapter.
