Learn Vista - Self Paced Instruction


Several self paced courses on the setup and use of WebCT Vista have been developed by Advanced Learning Technologies (ALT), a unit of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. These courses are managed by the Department of Distance learning. Faculty and staff may request enrollment at any time by completing the online form. Below are the course titles and descriptions.

Building Your Vista Course
This course consists of eight modules that provide the fundamentals in course design and skills using WebCT to create online courses: (1) Course Overview, (2) Online Course Design, (3) WebCT Vista Concepts, (4) Introduction to Designing, (5) Managing and Importing Content, (6) Organizing and Presenting Content, (7) Building a Basic Course, (8) Building Advanced Components.

Setting Up and Managing Your Vista 3.0 Course Section
The purpose of this course is to explain how to get started teaching your WebCT Vista online course. Here you will find information about support services available to USG users of WebCT Vista, steps for setting up your course at the beginning of the semester, recommendations for evaluating and managing course content, and an appendix of resources. This information may be especially helpful if you are teaching a course developed by other faculty. The following objectives are covered in this training: Enter your Vista course and set the entry page to your specifications; Navigate the Build, Teach, and Student tabs; Understand how to use each tool in Vista; Prepare your course for orientation and other student activities; Adapt course content to suit your needs and preferences; Manage day-to-day administrative matters; Contact the key personnel for technical and administrative assistance.

Designer and Instructor Videos Developed in Collaboration with WebCT
This course provides a set of interactive instructor demos for teaching and managing courses as well as a set of interactive designer demos for building and developing courses. The instructor demos include the following topics: interface, announcements, assessments, assignments, calendar, discussions, grade book, group manager, syllabus, selective release, and HTML creator. The designer demos include the following: modifying the course toolbar, adding components to the home page, adding and editing headers and footers, customizing the look of the course, creating and editing assessments, creating questions, creating assignments, building and customizing learning modules, building a syllabus, and much more.
