Field of Membership
Membership in the Valdosta Educators Credit Union is open to employees of Valdosta State University, students of Valdosta State University, persons retired from employment with Valdosta State University and members of their immediate families that may include persons related by blood, adoption, or marriage to, or living in the same household, with a person within the common bond, and to surviving spouses of deceased members.  Membership is also open to affiliated organizations of Valdosta State University. 


Applications
To complete a membership application, please visit our office a 308 East Ann Street, Valdosta, GA 31601 during regular business hours.  Each application for membership shall be completed in writing and signed by the applicant and joint member, if joint account.  To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. When you open a new account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you.  Each application must be accompanied by photo identification and a physical address.  Post Office box numbers cannot be accepted.  Employees and students must present his/her VSU issued identification card and government issued photo identification card.  Alternatively to a VSU issued ID card, an employee may present his most recent pay check stub and a student may present a printout of his/her current term course schedule.  Retirees or associated family members are only required to present a government issued photo identification card. 

 

Membership Fee
A one-time $5.00 membership fee and a $5.00 minimum opening deposit for Share Account is required.  A Share Account represents your “share” of the credit union.  All members are required to have a Share Account in order to be eligible for any other VECU product or service. 
 

Admission to Membership
Persons within the field of membership shall be admitted as members after it has been determined that they are eligible, after their applications have been approved in accordance with procedures authorized by the Board of Directors, and after said applicants have subscribed to and paid for one five (5) dollar share together with the required entrance fee as established by the Board of Directors. 

Withdrawal from Membership
A member who withdraws all his deposits and his $5.00 share thereby ceases to be a member.

Continuation of Membership
A member who leaves the field of membership may be permitted to retain his membership at the discretion of the Board of Directors of the Valdosta Educators Credit Union.
