ACT - American College Testing
The Act Assessment is administered six times at Valdosta State University during the test year to candidates for undergraduate admission. The test is administered during the following months: September, October, December, February, April and June

CLEP - College-level Exam
The CLEP is a series of examinations that assesses a student's knowledge in a wide range of subject areas. The CLEP program can reward you a degree credit hours for what you know, no matter how or where you learned it, in high school, on the job, through reading, observation, or the learning experiences of your life. There are 5 General Examinations and 30 specific Subject Examinations to choose. As a national test center all General and Subject Examinations are administered on this campus. However, Valdosta State University students may receive degree credit hours for certain courses based on score. Valdosta State University will accept up to a total of 30 semester credit hours by examination to include credit received from the CLEP. The CLEP is given only in a computerized format. The CLEP tests area administered by appointment Monday through Thursday on the Valdosta State University campus.

COMPASS - Computerized Adaptive Placement Assessment And Support System
The COMPASS is a placement test for undergraduate admission, if required. Incoming students will be notified by Valdosta State University Admissions Office and the South Georgia Regional Educational Consortium to contact the Office of Testing to schedule and appointment. The three un-timed computer-based components of the COMPASS are Math, Reading and Writing, The tests (placement, assessment, proficiency) and usually given during regular office hours, Since they are either required or mandated by University System of Georgia there is no test fee. The COMPASS components are administered by appointment on the Valdosta State University campus.

DANTES- Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational Support
The DANTES mission is to support the off-duty, voluntary education programs of the Department of Defense and to conduct special projects and development activities in support of education-related functions of the Department. DSST-DANTES Subject Standardized Tests is now available via IBT (internet based testing) The program is an extensive series of examinations in college subjects that are comparable to the final or end-of-course examinations in undergraduate courses. The DSST program provides the opportunity for people to earn college credit for what they have learned outside of the traditional classroom. administered at over 1,900 colleges and universities nationwide and approved by ACE (American Council on Education), the DSST program enables people to use their knowledge acquired outside the classroom to accomplish their educational and professional goals. Ecore - Electronic Core Curriculum
The eCore of the University System of Georgia is a program designed for students to receive classroom instructions through the Internet. Valdosta State University is one of six affiliate test centers to administer eCore exams in a standardized manner. Students receive instructions on how to register, timeline for exams, and locations for final exams from eCore instructional faculty. Mid term and final examinations are administered Monday through Friday by appointment.

The Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) has contracted with National Evaluation Systems, Inc. (NES®), to assist in the development and administration of the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators® (GACE™). The purpose of the GACE is to assess the knowledge and skills of prospective Georgia public school educators. The GACE program helps the PSC meet its goal of ensuring that candidates have the knowledge and skills needed to perform the job of an educator in Georgia public schools. The GACE are aligned with state and national standards for educator preparation and with state standards for the P–12 student curriculum (Georgia Performance Standards).

VSU is NOT a testing site for the GACE currently.
ISE - Independent Study Exam
Independent Study Examinations for correspondence courses through the University System of Georgia or for another state's educational system are given on this campus by appointment Monday through Thursday of each month. Students must confirm with the Testing Office the date, time and location of the desired administration along with notifying the education system from which the program is administered. Valdosta State University will accept up to a total of 30 semester credit hours by examinations to include the ISE program.

Georgia Legislative Exemptions Tests
In accordance with an act of the General Assembly of the State of Georgia, all candidates for degrees are required to possess and demonstrate a reasonable mastery of United States history, Georgia history, the United States Constitution, and the Georgia Constitution.These history requirements are met by the successful completion of History 2111 (3 hours) or History 2112 (3 hours). The constitution requirements are met by the successful completion of Political Science 1101 (3 hours).
Transfer credit for these three courses may not satisfy the requirements of the State of Georgia. Exemption tests in Georgia History or Georgia Constitution are offered to transfer students whose American History or Political Science course(s) did not include Georgia History or Georgia Constitution and to students who have obtained credit in American Government or in American History via the CLEP program, which does not include credit for satisfying the legislative requirements.
The Georgia Exemption Tests help students meet the Legislative requirements in Georgia History and Georgia Constitution. The Georgia Exemption Tests are given by appointment Monday through Thursday at no-cost.
RTP - Regents' Testing Program
The RTP is a required test mandated by the University System of Georgia's Board of Regents for students for students obtaining a degree from an institution within the System. The Regents' examination (Essay listed as RGTE 0197 and Reading listed as RGTR 0196) is a test to assess a student's essay writing skills and reading comprehension. Students are expected to register for a take both components of the Regents' Test prior to the accumulation of 45 semester hours of earned credit. Students should not delay initial testing beyond having earned 30 hours of degree credit. Students may take the test as many times as needed without remediation before earning 45 semester hours of earned credit. Since they are either required or mandated by University System of Georgia there is no test fee. The RTP is administered on the Valdosta State University campus during the following semesters: Fall, Spring and Summer (Session)
