Greek Week
Mission Statement

Greek Week is a week set aside for fraternity and sorority members to come together to compete in real athletic competition, serve the Valdosta community, and most importantly, have fun while doing it. Through a strong sense
of community, Greek Week strives to promote academic excellence, athletics, and service.

Statement on Sportsmanship

Greek Week should be both fun and competitive experience for everyone involved, and for those reasons, it is essential that members participating in Greek Week and fans show good sportsmanship. During Greek Week, you are not only representing your organization on both the local and national level; you are representing Greeks at Valdosta State University as a whole. Play fair, take loss or defeat without complaint, and win with class and respect for others.

Code of Conduct

  • All Greeks attending and participating in an event shall not violate the alcohol and drug policies of Valdosta State University.

  • During an event, all Greek attending and participating in that event are expected to conduct themselves in a manner of sportsmanship that will reflect positively upon the Greek System, Valdosta State University, and the local community.

  • The goal of Greek Week is to promote unity within the Greek System while providing a competitive and fun atmosphere for everyone involved. However, classroom work must still be the primary concern of each student. Each Greek is expected to maintain his/her classroom performance throughout the Greek Week.

  • All official shall be treated with respect during an event by all Greeks participating and attending that event.

  • For every event, the participating Greeks must have proper identification and display that identification when prompted by an official during the check-in period of the event.

  • Enthusiasm is an inherent aspect of all competitive events; however, all participants are to maintain a level of respect for themselves and those around them.
