Biography of the Vice-President for Student Affairs

  • Dr. Kurt J. Keppler has been Vice President for Student Affairs since July of 2002.
  • Dr. Keppler spent the previous nine years at Georgia State University (GSU), where he served as Associate Vice President & Dean of Students. He also served as Interim Vice President for Services for one year.
  • Dr. Keppler served as President of the 11,000 member National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), from March 2005-March 2006, and currently serves on the association’s executive committee.
  • Dr. Keppler chaired NASPA’s 2002 National Conference in St. Louis.
  • Dr. Keppler received the NASPA Region III "John Koldus Award" and the "Fred Turner Award" for contributions above and beyond the normal service required in a position of leadership in NASPA.
  • Dr. Keppler holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Park Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
  • A Masters of Science in Public and Community Services from the University of Missouri.
  • A Doctorate in Higher and Adult Education Administration & Counseling Psychology also from the University of Missouri.
  • Keppler continues to hold an adjunct teaching appointment and has taught courses in Leadership Style, Leadership Theory, Organizational Psychology and Group Dynamics at four different universities.
  • Keppler also held administrative positions in student affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Missouri.
