Background

Because a student’s transition from their first year of college to their second year can prove to be quite difficult, researchers have coined the term “sophomore slump” to describe this time in a student’s life. Sophomores experience a whole new set of stressors as they return to the college campus, both academically and socially. To assist students in the evolution from freshman year to sophomore year, a program specifically for sophomores has been implemented here at VSU.

Sophomore year programs are being implemented at institutions all over the country and after much research of these programs as well as of our VSU students, it was apparent that a sophomore- specific program would prove beneficial.
