How to Become an orientation leader 
All Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a full-time degree seeking undergraduate student and completed 12 credit hours at Valdosta State University
- Have a minimum 2.5 grade point average
- Be in good academic and judicial standing with the University
Expectations of VSU Orientation Leaders:
- Exhibit leadership potential
- Possess a positive attitude
- Willingness to work in a team environment and often with limited direct supervision
- Demonstrate self-initiative, punctuality, maturity, and flexibility
Commitments and Responsibilities of Orientation Leaders:
- Attend and participate in weekly Orientation Leader training sessions February-April
- Attend a team building retreat on campus during the Spring semester
- Facilitate guided tours at 3 designated VSU Visitation Days scheduled by the Office of VSU Admissions (dates TBA)
- Welcome new students and families to the university and assist with the orientation check- in process at all orientation sessions (dates TBA)
- Assist students with academic advising and class registration at all orientation sessions
- Orientation Leaders cannot take classes during June that conflict with June orientation sessions
Compensation for Orientation Leaders:
- Stipend for attending mandatory training sessions February-April
- Stipend for working Blazer Beginnings Orientation sessions
- VSU Bookstore gift card and meal for each scheduled VSU Visitation Day
- Lunch provided at all orientation sessions
Application and Selection Process:
- Applications for Orientation Leaders will be available on-line and in the Dean of Students office the Fall semester of each year
- Complete and submit application by early Spring semester of each year
- Provide one letter of recommendation (form will be provided)
- Sign up for interview with Orientation Coordinator and Orientation Selection Committee Member
- New Orienation Leaders will be announced the month of February of each year
