Healthy Habit for July
GET ENOUGH SLEEP!
Do you get enough sleep each night? Sleep is crucial to our well being, and when we cut down to just a few hours here and there, it will definitely have negative effects!
How much sleep do we need?
The body needs an average of 8 hours of sleep each night. Different people may require a little more or less depending on their age, muscle mass, body size, brain size, and their ability to think. Continuously obtaining less sleep than your body requires will only make you exhausted and moody!
Reasons To Get More Sleep:
- More Energy
- Better Attitude
- Better Coordination
- Improves Muscle Tone
- You’ll make less errors
- You’ll be more creative
- Enhanced Immune System
- Enhances Skin Appearance
- Better Memory and Logical Reasoning
- You’ll have a healthier emotional and mental well being
- This is the time when muscle tissue gets rebuilt and restored
- This is the time when you grow (Growth hormones are produced)
How do you know if you’re getting the right amount of sleep?
- Do you constantly yawn throughout the day?
- Do you tend to nod off during the day?
- Do you often forget things or have trouble focusing?
If you answered YES to any of these questions and/or you don’t wake up totally refreshed, you may need to increase the amount of sleep you get each night. Adding an extra thirty minutes or hour to your sleep pattern could really benefit you! Decreasing the amount of sleep you need, can have lasting effects; sleep disorders and an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity may occur.
