Dean of student's Biography
Mr. Mast has served as the Dean of Students since the summer of 2002. Prior to that, he served as the Acting Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students from December of 1999 to the summer of 2002. He has worked at Valdosta State University since August of 1989. From 1989 to 1991 Mr. Mast served as the Director of Intramurals and Recreation. In 1991 Mr. Mast became the Director of Student Activities and served in this position until 1998. During the spring of 1998 he was promoted to the position of Assistant Dean of Students for Student Life. Before coming to Valdosta State Mr. Mast worked for the Intramural Department at Eastern Kentucky University as a Recreational Sports Specialist.
Russell is very active within the community of Valdosta and enjoys working with youth. He has served as a Board Member with the Valdosta/Lowndes County Sports Commission, and he currently serves as the Chairman of the Valdosta/Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority. He has worked with the United Way of Lowndes County, and he is a graduate of Leadership Lowndes. Russ is married to his college sweetheart Mary, and they have three children.
