Campus Communications Board Meeting minutes 2/17/06

The Campus Communications Board was called to order by Chair, Russ Mast.  Members present were Jason Adams, Brian Roberts, Robin Vickery, Michael Taylor, Dr. Pat Miller, Andrea Rogers, Johnna Pinholster, Marcela Gonzales, Dr. Michael Capece and Russ Mast (chair).

Approval of Minutes:  A request for a motion for the approval of the minutes from the January 27, 2006 meeting was made by Russ Mast (chair).  The motion for approval was made by Jason Adams and a second was made by Michael Taylor.

Reports from Campus Media:

  • WVVS: Training new personnel.  Open mic Tuesday, February 21, 2006.
  • Odradek: Working on deadline for next edition.  The 2005 edition is being shopped out for publishing.
  • Spectator: $54,000 in ad sales.  Painting the Spectator offices.

Old Business:     None

New Business:         

  • Minor to change to the Campus Communications Board By-laws.  The position title WVVS General Manager should be changed to WVVS Station Manager.
  • A copy of the Communications Board application packet was distributed to all members of the Campus Communications Board.  Advertising and availability of applications will begin on Thursday, February 23, 2006.  Application deadline will be noon Friday, March 10, 2006.  Interviews will be Friday, March 24, 2006 at 12:30 PM in the Dead of Students Conference Room.

Announcements:

  • Russ Mast announced that the Student Activity Fee Budget Request Forms will be available beginning Thursday, February 23, 2006.  Submission deadline will be Thursday, March 23, 2006 by 12:00 noon.  And the hearings have been scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday, April 6, 2006.
  • Jason Adams announced that the Emerging Leaders will be hosting a conference titled “Everyday Superheroes” that is open to all students on Saturday, February 18, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • Russ Mast announced that the Centennial Celebration Kickoff will be held August 18, 2006 of the front lawn.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:10 PM.
