Campus Communications Board Meeting minutes 12/2/05
The Campus Communications Board was called to order by Chair, Russ Mast. Members present were Octavia Meyers, Charles Harmon, Robin Vickery, Dr. Pat Miller, Dr. Marty Williams, Dr. Michael Capece, and Russell Mast (chair).
Approval of Minutes: A request for a motion for the approval of the minutes from the October 21, 2005 meeting was made by Russ Mast (chair). The motion for approval was made by Dr. Pat Miller and a second was made by Robin Vickery.
Reports from Campus Media
- Spectator: Completed the last issue for Fall 2005. $43,000 in ad sales. Will publish a Spring Tab on the first day of Spring 2006 semester.
- Odradek: Last years editors have turned in disk with this year’s publication. Dr. Williams is adding the disclaimer to the publication. New editors are Andrea Rogers and Lauren Azzaillina.
- WVVS: Designed a new logo. Working on logs.
New Business:
Josh Stone is stepping down as the editor of the Spectator. Ms. Johanna Pinholster is the candidate for editor of the Spectator. A request for a motion to approve Ms. Pinholster as the editor of the Spectator was made by Russ Mast (chair). The motion for approval was made by Robin Vickery and seconded by Brian Roberts. Ms. Pinholster was unanimously approved for the position of editor for the Spectator.
- The applications for Campus Communications Board position will include the deadline and position descriptions.
- By-law changes – please see attached revision of the by-laws.
Miscellaneous
Russ Mast announced that the Centennial Steering Committee is looking for student volunteers to serve on a Public Relations sub-committee. Interested students should reference the Centennial Steering Committee website. The Centennial Celebration kick-off will be August 18, 2006.
Russ Mast announced that the new Intramural Fields should be available at the beginning of Spring semester 2006.
Octavia Meyers announced that at the last SGA Town Hall meeting a request to bring back yearbooks was made. The last VSU yearbook was published in 1987.
Russ Mast stated that the yearbook was discontinued due to cost and lack of interest. He stated that the last cost estimate was $65.00 per student. He will check to see if a video yearbook is available.
The next meeting time for the Campus Communications Board was set for Friday, January 27, 2006 at 12:00 PM in the Dean of Students Conference Room.
