Staff Awards

Each spring, Student Affairs honors staff members that have demonstrated commitment to the university and the surrounding Valdosta community.  There are to areas of excellence in which someone can be nominated.  Anyone may nominate a Valdosta State University employee for these awards.  There is no limit to the number of people one person may nominate.   The award categories are:

Commmunity Service Award

This award recognizes those individuals employed within the Division of Student Affairs who are involved in the planning and/or implementation of community service projects, outside of job-related functions, and which have occurred within the last year.  Examples of community service activities include fundraising, contributions of time, monetary support, or the sharing of skills or knowledge with persons or groups within the community.  Such activities may promote diversity, empower growth of individuals or groups, and/or increase awareness of important issues within the community.

Service to the Division/University Award

This award recognizes both a Student Affairs staff member and a non-division faculty/staff member who has provided meritorious service to the Student Affairs division by supporting its mission and goal of serving students.  This can include assistance with projects, donation of time and/or goods and promotion of a supportive learning environment. This staff member has worked to uplift the Student Affairs division through support of Student Affairs departments, activities, staff members and students.  The recipient of this award exemplifies leadership skills, efficiency, problem solving skills, and involvement.
