I have advanced degrees in sociology and political science from Elon University, Georgia Southern University, and the University of Georgia. In addition, I have also attended two universities in the People’s Republic of China—Beijing Language & Culture University and East China Normal University. Before joining VSU, I taught sociology and political science at Gainesville State College in North Georgia. For a summer, I also worked for the Global Assessment Certificate Program in Suzhou, China. In 2007, I taught Mandarin Chinese for Brenau University. In 2006, with grant funds, I conducted research at the German National Library of Economics in Kiel, Germany. For a year, I worked in Japan for Nova Intercultural Institute as a foreign language instructor. My chief academic interests lie in the areas of cultural, political, and international sociology. I want to fly across the Bering Strait from Alaska to Russia and visit the City of Vladivostok.
