Audition Requirements
Strings
String players in Concert Strings and VSYO take private lessons. Auditions will be held on September 12, 2011 at 6:30 PM and the requirements are listed below:
Concert Strings
Suzuki book 2-3 or equivalent solo piece
One octave scales up to 4 sharps and flats
VSYO
Suzuki book 3-4 or equivalent solo piece (e.g. Telemann, Vivaldi, Rieding)
Play any two 2 or 3 octave major scales
Ability to display some shifting and vibrato
Winds
Wind players should also prepare two scales from all of the major scales (all-state style if they wish) Two etudes or short pieces of contrasting style (slow and one fast) Winds will audition at 7:30 PM on September 12, 2011 and placement will be determined by the conductor.
