Ruby Riesinger, Area Director and Business Consultant 

Amassing a broad range of experience in the area of economic development, marketing, continuing education, and mass communications, Ruby brings a variety of capabilities to our clients. Riesinger holds a BBA in Economics and an MBA from VSU.   Her primary interests lie in marketing, organizational behavior and international management, and retail. Ruby has developed, implemented, and instructed a variety of continuing education programs to serve local business needs.  Her past experience also includes creating and executing marketing and advertising plans for many small to medium sized businesses, resulting in increased company profits for the client. In 2006, Riesinger was inducted into several collegiate Honor Societies: Beta Gamma Sigma International (excellence in business academics), Phi Kappa Phi National (inter-disciplinary academic excellence), and Golden Key International Honour Society (honorary community member). Ruby is also a 2006 graduate of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development and a 2008 Leadership Lowndes graduate. 

 

Marty LeFiles, Assistant Area Director and Business Consultant

After a thirty-four year career with the Southern Georgia Regional Commission managing staff and organizational resources, and providing hands on technical assistance to local government officials and professional staff, Marty brings the ideal combination of interpersonal skills, business knowledge, and experience that clients of the SBDC expect.  His experience includes all facets of consulting, from training local government clerks in financial and personnel management, to working with city/county managers, elected officials, chambers of commerce, and citizens in developing and implementing local community projects and programs.  Marty is an honor graduate of Valdosta State University, holding a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance.  His professional certifications include the Certified Finance Officer designation and the Certificate of Local Government Management, both from the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government, and the Economic Development Finance Professional certification from the National Development Council.  In addition, he holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) professional financial planning credential from the American College.  Marty has also been actively involved in civic affairs, having served as President of the Azalea City Kiwanis Club, President of the VSU Alumni Association, and is currently serving on the Southern Georgia Area Agency on Aging Council. 

 

Monica Page, Program Coordinator

Monica holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Valdosta State University.  She has extensive sales experience and has worked for 3 top Fortune 500 companies including; Wyeth, Pfizer, and Campbell Soup Company. During her sales career with these companies, Monica was the recipient of a number of top sales performance awards. In addition, to administrative duties, she will teach the SBDC’s “Starting a Business” classes and other new programs in response to local small business needs. Monica is on the VSU Alumni Association Board, serves as Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Advisory board member and has served on many local charitable organizations' committees.
