Richard Hammond A quick note about the Director of Campus Recreation. He arrived here in the Fall of 1997 in his current position. He left the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he was Assistant Director of Intramural and Club Sports from 1995 to 1997. Prior to that he held his first Professional position at Georgia Southern University as the Coordinator of Intramural Sports from 1993 to 1995. He Graduated with his masters from Southwest Texas State University now known as Texas State University in 1993. He received his Bachelor degree from the University of West Florida in 1991. A little known fact about Richard is that he has the same birthday as the President of the United States.

Shawn Phippen Shawn Phippen is from the golden state of California. He graduated from Kelseyville Highschool and then went on to attend Mendocino College where he received an Associates degree in Liberal Arts. He then served in the United States Navy as a medical Corpsman. There, he held the title of Command Physical Readiness Training Coordinator at Naval Hospital Charleston. He went on to complete his undergraduate and graduate degree at University of Pacific (UOP) in Stockton California. After receiving a degree in Sports Sciences with an emphasis on Exercise and Immunology he then went on to work for Campus Recreation at UOP as a graduate Assistant for Fitness and Facilities. He has 12 years of recreational experience in Campus Recreation and 8 years of teaching at the college level. While serving as Assistant Director here at VSU he is also an adjunct for the department of KSPE here at VSU. |

Galen Martin Galen Martin has been an Assistant Director here at the VSU Recreation center for over 3 years. He has a Bachelors degree in Secondary Education in Biology as well as a Masters degree in Recreation Administration. He likes white water rafting, hunting and dislikes boring people. |

Mallory Price is from East Lansing, Michigan. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology with and athletic administration focus from Michigan State University. She then went on to Indiana University where she received her Masters in Recreational Sports Administration. There she served as Graduate Assistant of Intramural Sports. |

Carolyn Griffin - Administrative Secretary Carolyn was born in Jersey City, New Jersey in Essex County but grew up in Valdosta, Georgia. She received her education in the Lowndes County school system before attending Val-Technical College, ABAC College and Valdosta State University. She has two wonderful children: Kenyawn Griffin and Jeremine Burks. She has been working in the Secretarial/Clerical arena for more than 15 years. She has been serving as the Administrative Secretary of Campus Recreation for more then 7 years and loves it! A known fact about Ms. Carolyn is she is a woman of God and loves the Lord, striving everyday to be like Jesus, Matthew 5:48. |
