Natatorium

The 7,000 sq. ft. natatorium at VSU’s Student Recreation Center houses an indoor pool heated year round to 82º F. Six 25-yard lanes are available for lap swimming, sloping in depth from 4 – 9ft. An assortment of aquatic exercise equipment remains free for patron use: kick boards, goggles*, ankle and wrist weights, aqua jogger belts, noodles and more are on hand to enhance your aquatic workout..

Why swim?
Swimming is an ideal, all-around exercise for all ages and body types. It’s one of the few sports that uses and tones all of the major muscle groups while promoting flexibility in the joints without straining them! Swimming improves your cardiovascular system and lung capacity so that you have enough energy for things other than your workout! Spend some time floating to promote relaxation or take a water aerobics class to enjoy a structured workout.

Can’t swim?
Don’t worry – our Lifeguard staff includes experienced swimming instructors ready to end your watery woes! This is your opportunity to perfect your strokes or learn for the first time. Stop by the Campus Rec Main Office to sign up, or call Shawn Phippen at 333-5898 for more information.

Don’t forget…
Our natatorium includes more than just the indoor pool! A large sundeck is available for lounging and enjoying the sun while working on your class work or tan; locker rooms (consisting of restrooms, showers and dressing areas) are adjacent to the pool deck for patron use at the Student Recreation Center.
