- Provides assistance to faculty, staff, and students in obtaining and managing sponsored projects, including identifying external funding opportunities to support research and creative activities, instructional programs, and service projects; preparing and submitting grant proposals and contract bids; negotiating and accepting awards; administering grants and contracts from inception to close-out (with the exception of accounting and financial reporting services); and resolving problems that may arise in the conduct of sponsored projects, either with sponsors or with administrative offices within the University;
- Ensures the ethical conduct of research at VSU through administration of the institution’s human research participant protection and animal care and use programs and by assisting in the implementation of other research related institutional policies;
- Advocates for and administers internal faculty support programs to encourage research and scholarship and especially the pursuit of extramural funding; and
- Promotes collaborations between the University, business and industry, and governmental agencies to encourage and facilitate sponsored activities.
