Trainer’s Information on Use of These Materials
Education. Go Get It, Campaign for College Readiness. An Initiative of the Southwest Georgia Higher Education Consortium
This College for Georgians Training Kit has been adapted with permission (licensed by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, THECB) from the College for Texans Training Kit. Organizers have worked diligently to include information specific to Southwest Georgia and to Georgia, such as:
- Information about high school academic programs that prepare students for furthering their education.
- Lists of higher education institutions in Southwest Georgia and throughout Georgia .
- Information about financial aid for college, including information about Georgia's unique HOPE (Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally) Scholarship Program.
- Information about the fastest-growing occupations in Southwest Georgia and throughout Georgia.
- Information about training that is required for various occupations and about the salaries that can be expected for these occupations.
- References and resources that can be accessed for further information.
For questions regarding up-to-date information for a particular program or policy, trainers should contact a high school counselor or a college admissions or financial aid officer. Or, visit one of the many Web sites listed for more information. Every effort has been made to include sites from which information was gleaned, and these sites can provide additional information. However, the posting of a link does not indicate endorsement of that link. Readers should note the privacy statement of each Web site they visit.
To ensure the continued integrity of the project and to protect copyright privileges (in particular for the licensed photographic and art images ), accompanying CDs have been prepared and distributed to trainers in "read only" (printable) files, where possible. Additional training materials are provided to assist trainers in preparing their presentations.
Trainers are encouraged to bring information and handouts that are pertinent to their audiences that might enhance the training experience for all participants, while keeping the content of the training kit intact. Trainers should feel free to use their creativity as they go about planning their programs with students and parents by adding to, not deleting from, the training kit contents. The kit is a good starting point to create supplemental presentations and programs.
The Appendices provide valuable information that can be used as handouts for parents and students. Please be familiar with this information. Be sure to copy and distribute this information as appropriate for any of the classes/modules.
“Participant Evaluations” are provided for each of the modules. Trainers are asked to use the evaluations for each training session so that Campaign administrators can continually improve the project. Please send the evaluations to the Campaign Partner Contact in your area (see information below). These Contacts will be happy to answer your questions and to provide updates for the Campaign for College Readiness:

This kit's information is valid as of June 2004. New surveys, changes in legislation, and budget reapportionments can make information obsolete quickly. Please remember to check liable sources for changes and updates.
