Education. Go Get It, Campaign for College Readiness. An Initiative of the Southwest Georgia Higher Education Consortium
The Southwest Georgia Higher Education Consortium wishes to thank the many individuals and entities responsible for the creation of the Campaign for College Readiness. Input and support surfaced from many sources; all contributions were important and were appreciated.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) allowed the Consortium to purchase the license for the use of the Campaign for College Readiness concept and the expansive training kit. Lynn Denton, former Director of the College for Texans Campaign, and her staff generously shared their expertise and their experience, for which we are grateful.
Joan Lord and the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) provided access to the Texas effort as well as generous financial assistance in making the Georgia program possible and sound advice on its implementation.
The Presidents and Campaign Contact Partners of Albany State University, Georgia Southwestern State University, and Valdosta State University provided the initial editing of the training kit to reflect Southwest Georgia's unique educational issues and opportunities. They hosted regional awareness briefings, call-to-action meetings, and train-the-trainer programs on the materials. They will provide continuing leadership and operational support for the initiative in their regions.
Art Dunning, University of Georgia Vice President for Public Service and Outreach and Associate Provost, provides administrative leadership for the Southwest Georgia Higher Education Consortium and is the primary sponsor for the initiative. His Associate Vice President, Griff Doyle, now Director of Federal Relations at UGA, provided the foundation for this initiative. Before his retirement from UGA in December 2003, Richard Field of the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education, served as the Campaign for College Readiness Project Director. John Shores, also of the Georgia Center, was the lead editor for the College for Georgians Training Kit. Jan Smith, the Campaign's Project Director since December 2003, provided the Georgia-specific content for the kit.
