Adult Nurse Practitioner Program FAQ

  • Application Process begins at Valdosta State University Graduate School web page.
  • Once applications are complete, the Graduate school forwards all applications to the College of Nursing Graduate coordinator. The coordinator brings all applicants to the Graduate Committee for review. Your letter of acceptance or denial will come from the graduate coordinator.
  • All students accepted to the Adult Nurse Practitioner program will be assigned an advisor who will initiate the degree plan.
  • Part-time or out of sequence students are subject to the schedule of courses delivered and may not have courses available every semester.
  • All students must utilize primary care clinical sites within VSU’s 41 county service area.
  • Faculty make the clinical preceptor assignments for courses.
  • This is a primary care program, students must be available to perform clinical hours during the times primary care providers are available.
  • Weekend College is our primary mode of delivery. Courses meet during the following times:
    • A weekend is Friday and Saturday. There are course time slots from 4-7pm on Friday, 8am -12pm and 1-4 on Saturday.
    • Fall and Spring courses meet 5 scheduled weekends during the semester.
    • Maymester courses meet on the three weekends during May to include the Memorial Day Friday and Saturday.
    • Extended Summer courses meet 5 scheduled weekends from May through July.
    • Summer II courses meet 5 scheduled weekends During June and July.
