NOTE:

1) Since admission to the College of Nursing is based on the availability of resources, all students meeting minimum criteria may not be admitted.

2) Admission to the nursing major is competitive. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the nursing major.

 Two Types of Admission:

  • A full acceptance.
  • A contingent acceptance is predicated on successful completion of unmet criteria.
Applicants who are not admitted may reapply for admission for the following semester.  Students must submit application materials at the time of re-application.  These reapplicants must meet the same criteria as first time applicants.

Enrollment limitations are necessary in order to provide faculty supervision and clinical sites for clinical experiences.  Admitted students who decide not to enter the nursing program are requested to notify the College of Nursing as quickly as possible so their place in the class can be reassigned.  So that we can be fair to all applicants, the admission offer is valid only for the time specified in the letter.

Students who have had a prior conviction of a felony charge  may not be able to sit for the national licensure examination upon graduation.  Graduation from an approved program is one requirement for applying for licensure but the jurisdictional Board of Nursing makes the final decision on eligibility.  Before applying to the College of Nursing, any student who has a conviction for either a felony or a misdemeanor is strongly encouraged to seek the advice of the Dean or the Assistant Dean regarding eligibility for the licensure examination after graduation.
