Notes on Teaching English traditionally publishes twice a year, in December and May, as part of the Georgia-Carolinas College English Association. Unfortunately, we've been off the grid since December 2001. My apologies to the GACEA membership, subscribers, and contributors. As the new general editor, I will respond to those who submitted articles during this lapse as soon as possible. If you submitted an article during this lull and would like to know its current status, PLEASE send an e-mail inquiry:![]()
This edition should be the last irregular volume you see. In 2006, we will again publish an issue in May and December.
Several features of NOTE changed with this volume. The journal is available on-line, but no longer available in a hardcopy version. This decision was made for a number of reasons, but in part because the days of print journals, with their prohibitive cost on our environmental resources, are winding to an end. The best feature of the online journal for our readership is that NOTE no longer charges a subscription price. This increases its potential reading audience.
Because NOTE has gone online, submission requirements have changed. Examine all submission guidelines before submitting an article.
Some highlights of going electronic: we lose the burden of print costs and NOTES can publish longer articles. However, in order to maintain and improve scholarly standards--very important to all scholars and teachers--NOTE will not be increasing the number of articles published each issue. To maintain quality peer review, NOTE will continue to restrict publication.
Also NOTE will be expanding its scope to include a work focused solely on creative writing. As with everything else we publish, these works will be focused on teachers and students, and they will be peer-reviewed.
Finally, I am archiving back issues of NOTE. No archive is built in a day, but eventually back issues will be readily accessible on-line.
