Amy Caroline Adamson
By Jennifer Tanner & Natalie Quinn
If Amy Adamson had one wish, she would not use it for herself. The senior nursing major said she would ask for the cure for cancer in hopes to save lives around the world.
Adamson said she believes God directed her path into nursing and that serving others through health care will allow her the opportunity to satisfy both physical and spiritual needs. Now that she has graduated, she wants to travel to third world countries to provide medical care where it is needed the most by participating in medical mission trips.
Her compassion for others is just one reason professors chose her as the 2009 Outstanding Nursing Student. Her impressive academic merits helped as well. Valedictorian of Bainbridge High School, the South Georgia native has achieved dean's list standing and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and has maintained a 3.98 GPA.
Strong faith the loving support of family and friends are the factors to which Adamson attributes her success in Valdosta State University's nursing program. Their support encourages her to reach out to others as well.
"I enjoy building others up and helping them to accomplish goals," said Adamson, who looks forward to starting a family with her fiancé Shane. "When I see others succeed, I am encouraged to reach my goals as well."
