Valdosta State University’s South Georgia Writing Project names new Advisory Board members

Valdosta State University's South Georgia Writing Project (SGWP), a local site of a nationwide network of school/university programs dedicated to improving the teaching of writing across all disciplines in K-college classrooms, names 9 regional educators to its advisory board for the 2005-2006 academic year:

Latahshia Coleman, English, Valdosta State University
Amy Cunningham, English, Ware County High School
Brett Drawdy, Science, Cook County High School
Adam Hathaway, English and Athletics, Fitzgerald High School
Heather Hathaway, Science, Fitzgerald High School
Chere Peguesse, English, Valdosta State University
Jennifer Peper, Writing Center, Savannah College of Art and Design
David Van Wyk, English, Coffee County High School
Marty Williams, English, Valdosta State University

All advisory board members are graduates or current faculty members of VSU and will be responsible for nominating educators to participate in the Invitational Summer Institute, attending planning meetings, and promoting excellence in the teaching of writing.
Dr. Sewell, assistant professor in VSU's English Department, created the advisory board when she was appointed as the new SGWP director this summer. Sewell replaced outgoing director, Dr. Chere Peguesse, associate professor in English and director of the Writing Center at VSU.

The SGWP is affiliated with the National Writing Project, a grant-funded network of over 189 school/university programs dedicated to ensuring quality writing instruction across disciplines and grade levels.
