Tom Lundquist: Poissions de Chant

VALDOSTA -- The VSU Fine Arts Gallery invites the public to the opening of it's latest exhibit -- “Poissons de Chant" -- from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the gallery, located on the first floor of the Fine Arts Building at the corner of Brookwood and Oak Street.

The art exhibit, featuring the computer illustrations of Tom Lundquist, will be open for viewing until Friday, Nov. 5, during gallery hours: Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Poissons de Chant” translates literally to mean “The Singing Fish,” a mythological troop of fish from Montréal that travel and perform around the world. Lundquist, who teaches part time at Santa Monica College, said his artwork showcases historical references that recognize former artists such as Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali and other historical figures. Lundquist is also known to incorporate different optical illusions, and humorous imagery throughout his work.

E-mail Gallery Director Julie Bowland at jabowlan@valdosta.edu or call her at 229-333-5835 for more information or to schedule a guided tour of the exhibition.
