Congressman Jack Kingston helps dedicate VSU Odum Library Addition

An Open House for Valdosta State University's new addition to the Odum Library took place Wednesday, Aug. 25 in the atrium of the new addition. A dedication ceremony featured Congressman Jack Kingston of Georgia's First Congressional District. VSU President Dr. Ronald M. Zaccari and University Librarian Dr. George R. Gaumond also provided remarks.
Construction of the addition began Aug. 13, 2001 and was completed on Nov. 12, 2003. The addition cost $14.2 million and is 95,000 square feet. Distinctive features include a 24 hour Internet Cafe, the GALILEO Technology Center, electronic classrooms, auditorium, expanded Media Center, climate-controlled Archives, new study areas, and additional book shelving.
Architects of the library addition are Jova/Daniels/Busby of Atlanta and Ingram Parris Group of Valdosta, Ga. Construction services were provided by Culpepper Construction Company of Tallahassee, Fla.
