University System Recognizes Hertzog

Valdosta State University's Dr. Pamela Hertzog received recognition from the University System Board of Regents during the P-16 conference on April 27, at the James Rainwater Convention Center.
Hertzog, P-16 coordinator and professor of Early Childhood and Reading Education, received recognition for her ten years of service to the South Georgia P-16 Council.
The Georgia Pre-School through Post-Secondary Education (P-16) Initiative is a state-wide effort by the Governor, legislative leaders, the Georgia Departments of Education and Technical and Adult Education, the Office of School Readiness, the University System of Georgia, faculty, educational administrators, school boards, communities, youth advocates, and the private sector. The goal is to improve student success at all levels of education continuing into the world of work.
A Georgia P-16 Council, appointed by Governor Zell Miller in 1995, oversees the state-wide P-16 Initiative. The council, made up of leaders from various professional fields, collaborates at local/regional levels to promote and recommend changes in public educational systems aimed at improving student success from pre-school through post-secondary education and into professional fields.
Hertzog will retire in July after providing more than 22 years of service to Valdosta State University in the Department of Early Childhood and Reading Education. She is recognized for leadership and dedication to the field of education in South Georgia.
