Valdosta State University's Spring Focus Series 2004 is concentrating on "Africa: Achievements and Challenges in the 21st Century." The annual lecture series includes a combination of lectures and films, which are scheduled into April. The lecture series is sponsored by VSU's Center for International Programs and co-sponsored by the Departments of African-American Studies, Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice, and Political Science. The films are offered in conjunction with the Cinema International film series. All presentations are open to the public and are free of charge.

The following is the schedule of upcoming events:

Tuesday, February 17, 7:00 p.m.
Biology/Chemistry Building Auditorium, FILM
Zan Boko, Gaston Kabore's film explores the conflict between tradition and modernity, and tells the poignant story of a village family swept up in the current tide of urbanizations.
