Valdosta State University's Dr. Kurt Keppler elected President-elect of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA)

Valdosta State University's Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Kurt Keppler, has been elected the new President-elect of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). The organization represents more than 1,175 member campuses around the United States. Keppler will assume his new role later this month at the close of the 2004 annual national conference in Denver, Colorado. His new position will allow him to be a member of NASPA's Board of Directors Executive Committee. Keppler will become President of NASPA in March of 2005.

?The 8,500 professionals who are members of NASPA have chosen you as their spokesperson and leader,? said Gwendolyn Jordan Dungy, NASPA's Executive Director, in a letter to Keppler. ?As National Conference Chair in 2003, you were a model of excellence as a national Board member who understands responsibilities as well as stewardship for the national association.?

"This is a tremendous honor and recognition of Dr. Keppler's professional accomplishments," said VSU President Dr. Ronald M. Zaccari. "NASPA will benefit from his years of leadership and its future will flourish under his guidance." Zaccari added, "Kurt's national leadership role will open new and viable opportunities for career advancement and place Valdosta State University in a highly visible position."

Keppler said it is a privilege to serve NASPA and the profession of student affairs.
"The association has thousands of dedicated members who are committed to delivering quality student services and programs. Serving as president will be both a challenge and an opportunity."

Volunteers from member institutions who are elected as regional and national officers provide NASPA's leadership. The Washington DC based organization helps senior student affairs officers and administrators, student affairs professionals, faculty, and other educators enhance student learning and development. NASPA provides professional development, promotes exemplary practices, and is a leader in policy development. The organization promotes quality and high expectations; advocates for students; encourages diversity; and excels in research and publication.
