Director of Athletic Bands

Mr. Eric Bradshaw joined the Valdosta State University faculty in the Fall of 2002. He currently serves as the Director of Athletic Bands and Assistant Professor of Tuba/Euphonium. Along with his teaching responsibilities and directing the Blazin' Brigade Marching Band, Mr. Bradshaw performs as the principal tubist with the Valdosta and Albany Symphony Orchestras, VSU Faculty Brass Quintet, and directs the basketball pep band, concert band, and tuba/euphonium ensemble. Mr. Bradshaw received his Bachelor of Science in music education and Master of Music in tuba performance from the University of Alabama. Mr. Bradshaw's principal conducting instructors have included: Dr. Gerald Welker, Dr. Kenneth Ozzello, and Prof. Don Wilcox. He has studied tuba with Prof. Michael Dunn, Mr. James Jenkins, and Prof. Richard Powell.
Eric's professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association, College Music Society, Music Educators National Conference, Georgia Music Educators Association, and International Tuba Euphonium Association. Eric is also a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and is currently the faculty advisor for the VSU chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.
Prior to moving to Valdosta, Mr. Bradshaw spent 1997-2001 teaching in the public school system in Carroll County, GA and working as an adjunct professor at the University of West Georgia.
Eric lives with his wife, Jeanne-Hope, and their twin sons, Andrew and Ryan. The Bradshaw's are also an active foster family for the Valdosta area.

Coordinator of Marching Percussion
Dr. Clifford A. Lipscomb coordinates all of marching percussion activities for the VSU Blazin’ Brigade, which includes student recruitment, writing the percussion music for the halftime shows, and instructing the drumline. Dr. Lipscomb has an undergraduate degree in economics and sociology from Berry College (1998) and holds the Ph.D. in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology (2003). His marching band and drum corps experience includes the Georgia Tech Marching Band, the Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps. Dr. Lipscomb is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the non-profit The Teal Sound, Inc. of Florida, and a judge for the United States Scholastic Band Association, the Florida Federation of Color Guards, SAPA, and the Atlantic Indoor Association.
In his real life, Dr. Lipscomb is the Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at Valdosta State University and an Assistant Professor of Economics. Dr. Lipscomb teaches managerial economics, math for economists, sustainability, and principles of microeconomics. He has written more than 15 peer-reviewed articles and professional publications. Dr. Lipscomb also is responsible for the quarterly Cost-of-Living Index for Valdosta, which allows a comparison of the cost to live in Valdosta to other metropolitan areas in the U.S. He also is the Book Review Editor for the Review of Regional Studies.
Dr. Lipscomb lives in Valdosta with his wife Amelia and son Thoreau.
