Please don't forget the deadline to register for the 2011 alumni band is Saturday, October 15th!
I am writing for two reasons: To announce the Blazin’ Brigade is planning to host the 2nd Annual Alumni Band as part of the 2011 VSU Homecoming activities on October 15th (VSU vs West Alabama); and to mention the annual fund campaign through the VSU Division of University Advancement.
We received very positive feedback from those who participated last year as well as VSU fans in attendance at the game. We would like to have a short rehearsal Saturday morning and then have you join the current members of the Blazin’ Brigade for a portion of our pregame show. After this you can enjoy the afternoon of football and halftime activities. Additional registration information and a schedule of homecoming activities can be found below. There are two options for submitting your registration form and payment.

The participation fee is $25 (check payable to VSU Band) and will include lunch and an alumni band T-shirt. I am pleased to announce that you will not need to purchase football game tickets if you are participating in the alumni band. Friends and family can purchase game tickets by contacting the VSU athletics office at 229/333-5890.
If you are not able to join us for homecoming, I would like to ask you to take just a couple of minutes to send me your current contact information. Simply click here to fill-out the online contact information form. If you send the homecoming registration form, there is no need to submit the online information form (as the same information is found on both forms). If you are a member of Facebook, I would also suggest you join the “Blazin' Brigade Marching Band Alumni” group. This could be another great way to keep up to date and/or reconnect with former Blazin’ Brigade members.
Finally, in the last couple of years the Blazin’ Brigade has grown to over 150 current members. With this growth we need to continue elevating the athletic bands program by purchasing much needed equipment and instruments. The future is bright for the Blazin’ Brigade and we are asking for your help. Please plan to participate when you are contacted in the next few weeks through the VSU annual fund campaign and I would encourage you to consider making a donation towards the Blazin’ Brigade when you receive this information. Your support at a level that is right for you - $25, $100, $500 or more – is appreciated and when combined with the gifts of others will have a very powerful impact on our marching band program.

11:00 am Rehearsal starts (alumni and current members – Front Lawn)
12:00 pm Lunch Provided – Band Room
1:00 pm Band assembles at stadium
1:30 pm *Blazer Walk (behind stadium at corner of Williams St and Jane St)
2:40 pm Line up for pre-game performance
3:00 pm Kickoff
*Alumni are also welcome to join us to play for the Blazer Walk. The band plays while the football team walks to stadium / pep rally
