Tod Leavitt is a classical, jazz, and popular music bassist. He has performed professionally on both the acoustic and electric basses for over twenty years. As a classical bassist, Dr. Leavitt has performed with dozens of symphony orchestras throughout the United States and has been a featured soloist with: Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Festival Orchestra featuring the James Niblock Double Bass Concerto (2010); the Macomb Symphony Orchestra; the Great Lakes Symphony Orchestra; and the Xavier University Chamber Orchestra. In the jazz field, he has performed at hundreds of establishments with various jazz artists, including Dave Brubeck and George Benson. As a popular musician, Tod has performed with several rock bands.

Dr. Leavitt completed two BA degrees at Michigan State University, MA at the University of California, San Diego, and DMA at The Ohio State University. He is currently the lecturer of contrabass at Valdosta State University. He has taught at Bowling Green State University, Earlham College, Macomb Community College, and Xavier University. Classes he has directed or taught include: chamber music; jazz combo: jazz history; music history; music theory; orchestration; popular music in America; and The Inner Game.
