Override Requests and Schedule

Fall and summer '12 override requests are being accepted

Instructions for Obtaining an override  for foreign language Read carefully or your override may be declined

No overrides will be granted if any of the following have not been adhered to and/or cleared prior to your request. Override requests are granted on a first-come, first serve basis. If you have not cleared all issues with your Banner account prior to sending your request, your override will be denied and moved to the back of the waiting list. Overrides are not guaranteed and are at department and professorial discretion.

1. The form must list your Valdosta.edu e-mail address. You may not use any other e-mail address. Please make sure you spell your e-mail address correctly. If you override is completed and an attempt to notify you of the change in your schedule bounces back, you will be removed from the course and your request discarded.

2. You must clear all holds on your account. Please check your Banner account to make sure you do not have any holds. Holds include parking tickets, fee charges, admissions issues, etc. If holds are not cleared, your override will be denied, and your request will be moved to the back of the waiting list.

3. Your advisor must make your account eligible to register for classes.

4. You may not request an override into a class if you are already registered in a different section of the same class, regardless of the semester in which you register. . The only exception is moving from an online course to a face to face course, or from a face to face course to an online course. (This is called "cherry-picking," and prevents students who need a seat in the class from registering for the course. It is not allowed in this department..) This will cause your request to be removed from the waiting list with no notification.

5. The form must be filled out completely and accurately. Any field not correctly completed will cause your request to be denied. (e.g worng professors name, wrong CRN, wrong section, incorrect Id number, etc.)

6. If you are denied an override, and receive a reply that directs you to class the first day, you should follow these instructions and request entry from the Professor. The Professor should be asked to send an e-mail to the person who enters the override. This e-mail must contain your student ID number, your email address, and the five digit CRN number for the course. You should provide this information to the Professor in order to speed up the process. Not providing this to your professor will slow down the time it takes to have your override processed or may cause it to be denied again due to missing information.)

7. Majors and MInors in foreign language along with seniors in any Major, who are graduating at the end of the current term, will be given priority for all seats.

8. If you receive an e-mail saying you have been placed on a waiting list, the chances are still extremely good that you will get a seat in the class. Just hang in there.

The most important thing to remember when making this request on line is accuracy and knowledge of the class you are requesting and your information.

If you have read all of the above and understand that your override approval is contingent on these rules being followed, you may proceed to the online request form.
