SERVICES for Students with Disabilities
Physical Access
- Parking. Handicapped Parking is available on the east side of the library, as well as south of the library near Pine Hall (formerly Plant Operations). For more information on handicapped parking spaces on campus, visit the VSU Parking & Transportation's Parking for the Disabled Webpage.
- Building Access. There are two points of access to Odum Library (hours of operation).
North side of building: Persons wishing to enter the library on the second (main) floor may take the elevator up from the ground level and use the automatic door on the far left.
South side of building (Library Addition entrance): A ramp leads up to the main entrance on the first floor.
- Elevator. Wheelchair-accessible elevators are located in the the original building, as well as the library addition.
- Restrooms. All public library restrooms are wheel-chair accessible.
- Maps. Maps of the library are available at the Reference Desk, as well as online.
Adaptive Technology Equipment
- A wheelchair-accessible workstation for the library's electronic services is located across from the Information Technology HelpDesk (second floor of old building).
- Televisions located in Media Services are equipped with Closed Captioning capability.

* Dragon Naturally Speaking Headphone Set and Study Room may be checked out at the 1st floor Circulation Desk II.
** Sorenson VP-100 Videophone with access to nationally certified video relay interpreters is located in the Adaptive Technology Study Room #1060 near the 1st floor Circulation Desk II. In addition to the Study Room, you will need to check out two remotes, the Videophone Remote 1 and the Toshiba TV Remote II.
- Library visitors with a disability may use Odum Library's Adaptive Technology Study Rooms. VSU Students, Faculty, and Staff with a disability have priority over community users in checking these rooms out for use. Library visitors will be required to complete a Community Borrower's Card application. Approved library visitors with a disability will be given a card which must be presented at the circulation desk when requesting to check out an Adaptive Technology Study Room. Book Retrieval and Photocopy Assistance
- Odum Library policy aims to ensure complete access to its public collection to all patrons, irrespective of physical limitation or challenge. Patrons with disabilities who find any shelved material difficult or impossible to retrieve should seek the assistance of library staff, who will help in as efficient and timely a manner as possible.

If your research requires very specialized and/or lengthy consultation, you may wish to make an appointment with a Reference Librarian. Please contact the Outreach Services Librarian via the provided form at or (229) 333-7149 to schedule an appointment.
